Scripting Makeover Contest

Posted on January 22, 2007July 2, 2013

SAPIEN Technologies is pulling out all the stops to put Windows automation at the top of everyone's to do list. Or at least on the radar screen of the people watching the bottom line. They are running a Scripting Makeover Contest with very serious prizes. Here's the official announcement which some of you may not have seen:

Manage and Report Active Directory, Exchange and Microsoft 365 with
ManageEngine ADManager Plus - Download Free Trial

Exclusive offer on ADManager Plus for US and UK regions. Claim now!

SAPIEN Technologies has decided to really prove that Windows administrative automation - via scripting in technologies like VBScript and Windows PowerShell - really is practical with the right tools, training, and resources. To put our money where our mouth is, we've launched the "Scripting Makeover Contest" at www.scriptingmakeover.com.

Any US-based company can enter the contest by telling us a bit about themselves and their most repetitive, time-consuming Windows administrative tasks. The winner will receive free training, software, tools, resources, consulting, and more - all designed to automate those tasks. The entire process will be documented, in detail, in a case study which will be made publicly available (and also in blog form online). In all, the winner will receive over $20,000 of free products and services to help up to one dozen Windows administrators become more efficient and productive, and we'll be documenting the exact time - and money - saved at the end of the process.

The technologies we focus on in the solution set will primarily be Windows PowerShell and VBScript, although any "right tool for the right job" is fair game. The prize package includes private on-site training, self-paced training, books, software, reference resources, community-based support, in-person and online consulting, and more - it's a pretty impressive lineup and a pretty significant prize.

The application process is now open, and will continue for 90 days. Please encourage anyone and everyone (in the US - sorry, contest legalese) to consider entering! I definitely appreciate your help in spreading the word: Let's face it, doing any kind of scripting or automation takes some training and tools, and too many managers don't see the value. Let's prove the value once and for all.

Note that this contest is sponsored by SAPIEN Technologies, but no purchase of any kind is required or suggested in order to enter the contest.
