Here are some things to try if you want to customize your console.<\/p>\n<p> <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>In my PowerShell profile I have three lines that set the title to the PowerShell window, as well as change the background and foreground colors.    <\/p>\n<pre class=\"PowerShellColorizedScript\"><span style=\"color: #006400\">#reconfigure the console<\/span>            \n<span style=\"color: #008080\">[console]<\/span><span style=\"color: #a9a9a9\">::<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">Title<\/span><span style=\"color: #a9a9a9\">=<\/span><span style=\"color: #8b0000\">&quot;Windows PowerShell 2.0&quot;<\/span>            \n<span style=\"color: #008080\">[console]<\/span><span style=\"color: #a9a9a9\">::<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">BackgroundColor<\/span><span style=\"color: #a9a9a9\">=<\/span><span style=\"color: #8b0000\">&quot;black&quot;<\/span>            \n<span style=\"color: #008080\">[console]<\/span><span style=\"color: #a9a9a9\">::<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">ForegroundColor<\/span><span style=\"color: #a9a9a9\">=<\/span><span style=\"color: #8b0000\">&quot;green&quot;<\/span><\/pre>\n<p>\n  <br \/>I don\u2019t show it, but you need to run CLS to refresh the console.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see all I\u2019m doing is modifying a few settings for the System.Console class. The properties should be self-explanatory. Here\u2019s the end result.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jdhitsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/powerShellcolorized.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" title=\"powerShell-colorized\" border=\"0\" alt=\"powerShell-colorized\" src=\"http:\/\/jdhitsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/powerShellcolorized_thumb.png\" width=\"484\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>One potential drawback is that any script that is using <a title=\"Get online help for this cmdlet\" href=\"http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?LinkID=113426\" target=\"_blank\">Write-Host<\/a> and a green font will be indistinguishable from pipelined output.&#160; As long as I stay away from yellow and red, since they are used for warnings, verbose and errors, I should be ok. You can use any color that you would with Write-Host. If you need to reset back to the original console color scheme at any time use this expression:<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\" size=\"2\" face=\"Lucida Console\">PS C:\\Scripts&gt; [console]::ResetColor() ; cls<\/font><\/p>\n<p>You might also like to change the buffer width and height<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\" size=\"2\" face=\"Lucida Console\">[console]::BufferHeight=3000<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\" size=\"2\" face=\"Lucida Console\">[console]::BufferWidth=120<\/font> <\/p>\n<p>I like big buffers, what can I say.
