This is another great use case for a PowerShell control script. The script helps me organize commands like <a title=\"read online help for this command\" href=\"http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?linkid=287299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Get-CimInstance<\/a>, <a title=\"read online help for this cmdlet\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/powershell\/module\/hyper-v\/get-vm?view=win10-ps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Get-VM<\/a> and <a title=\"read online help\" href=\"http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/p\/?linkid=289625\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"blank noopener noreferrer\">Get-Counter<\/a> to retrieve pieces of data and pull them all together into an HTML report.<\/p>\n<p>The script accepts parameters and has comment-based help.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jdhitsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/image-8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/jdhitsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/image_thumb-8.png\" width=\"1028\" height=\"549\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This version of the script does not require anything to be installed locally, not even the Hyper-V cmdlets. The script uses PowerShell remoting and gathers all the information from a Hyper-V host that you specify. If necessary, you can use alternate credentials. If you are like me and use Hyper-V on Windows 10, the Computername parameter defaults to the localhost.<\/p>\n<p>The script gathers a wide range of information and creates HTML fragments. At the end of the script, a file is created locally. The script embeds the CSS style sheet as well as any logo graphic you might specify. This makes the file completely portable, say if you wanted to email it with <a title=\"Read online help for this command\" href=\"http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?LinkID=135256\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Send-MailMessage<\/a> or something similar.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few script features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collapsible regions<\/li>\n<li>Performance Counters<\/li>\n<li>Resource Metering reporting<\/li>\n<li>Replication reporting<\/li>\n<li>Find virtual machines created in last X number of days (default 30)<\/li>\n<li>Find virtual machines not used in X number of days (default 30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Currently, the script only supports WSMan remoting so you must have a Windows client. Although PowerShell 7 should work just fine. At some point I might add SSH support so you can run this from a non-Windows client.<\/p>\n<p>Here's a sample report.
