I find myself using ANSI escape sequences quite often. I'm also playing with different color schemes in Windows Terminal. And I still on occasion find myself using <strong>Write-Host<\/strong> to display colorized messages. What has gotten trickier is that Windows Terminal schemes can redefine colors. What I am used to as Green may not actually be Green. I polished up a simple script, to display all possible combinations for the console colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre title=\"#Test-ConsoleColors.ps1\" class=\"wp-block-code\"><code lang=\"powershell\" class=\"language-powershell\">#requires -version 5.1\n\n#Display a combination of foreground and background console colors\n\n#create an array of system console colors\n$colors = [enum]::GetNames([consolecolor])\n\n&lt;#\n combine the color as foreground in combination with every color\n as a background\n#>\nforeach ($bg in $colors) {\n  Clear-Host\n  foreach ($fg in $colors) {\n    $msg = \"This is a $fg foreground on a $bg background\"\n    Write-Host $msg.PadRight(75, ' ') -ForegroundColor $fg -BackgroundColor $bg\n  } #foreach $bg\n\n  #pause for each background\n  Write-Host \" \"\n  Pause\n} #foreach $fg<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>The script will cycle through all of the console colors, pausing after each.
