Get Local Admins One-Liner

Posted on March 14, 2011

Working with local users and groups can get a little messy in PowerShell. But I wanted to share a quick one-liner you could use to list all the members of the Administrators group.

Create New Computer with ADSI

Posted on February 19, 2011September 12, 2022

UPDATE 12 Sept. 2022: In attempting to correct obsolete information( this was originally published in 2011), I removed the contents of this post. But I did manage to save the function, which is all you probably care about anyway.

Posted on August 12, 2010

More and more, you’re seeing members of the Windows PowerShell community package their contributions into modules, myself included. Although you’ll probably still see a lot of individual functions because it is often easier to demonstrate or educate. I received a comment on my Weather module that I thought merited a complete post, since I expect…

Get Your Free Scripting Toolkit

Posted on July 29, 2010July 2, 2013

If you were at this year's TechEd event in New Orleans, I hoped you dropped by the SAPIEN Technologies booth and picked up your free Scripting Toolkit. What's that you say? Check it out on the SAPIEN blog and then download your free copy.

Out-Clip

Posted on July 6, 2010July 6, 2010

I’ve started working on the 2nd edition of Managing Active Directory with Windows PowerShell: TFM. As with almost all of my writing projects it will be full of PowerShell code examples. In the past I’ve always relied on a manual copy and paste to add content to the manuscript. The PowerShell Community Extensions made this…

New Book Project – Reviewers Needed

Posted on June 15, 2010

While at Microsoft TechEd, I signed the paperwork to write a second edition of Managing Active Directory with Windows PowerShell: TFM for SAPIEN Press. It’s hard to believe so much has happened since that book hit the shelves in less than 2 years. The 2nd edition will continue to include coverage of Quest Software’s PowerShell…

Posted on November 9, 2009July 2, 2013

SAPIEN Press is now taking pre-orders for the latest edition of the popular Windows PowerShell: TFM. The new version, Windows PowerShell 2.0: TFM is really the 3rd edition of our original book. Don Jones and I have worked very hard to make this the most comprehensive PowerShell resource you can have on your book shelf….
